The exchange bridges perspectives from Cairo and Stuttgart, creating new impulses for international cooperation.

More information is available in the official call for participants.

Spaces of Resilience in Youth Transitions

How can young people in phases of transition and orientation be supported in developing confidence, independence, and new perspectives?
This professional exchange brings together educators, youth workers, and mentors from volunteering and orientation programmes who work with young adults in transitional phases. Together, they explore approaches and methods for designing learning and living environments as Spaces of Resilience—places that foster self-efficacy, build community, and support sustainable personal development.

Youth Exchanges in Montpellier and Heidelberg

Montpellier, 03.-10.06.2026 + Heidelberg, 05.-09.08.2026

This youth exchange brings together participants from various European countries. The focus is on urban resilience, democracy, and climate - topics that are tangible in many local initiatives in Montpellier. Participants work in international teams, share experiences, and develop ideas for how cities can become more sustainable and just.

At the Collegium Academicum Heidelberg—a self-organised residential and educational project—young people from several countries will create a five-day work camp. The target group is participants aged 18–27 who enjoy hands-on collaboration, project creation, and storytelling for sustainability. Together, they build a vibrant learning environment where urban transformation is not only discussed but lived.

We are still open for partners in other European countries, more information you can find here.

FAQ

How many countries do participate in the exchange?

We aim for a diverse group of people in the Professional Development Activitiy Cairo-Stuttgart. Since this is our only exchange where professionals from "third countries not associated with the program" can participate, colleagues from region 3 countries (Algeria; Egypt; Israel ; Jordan; Lebanon; Libya; Morocco; Palestine; Syria; Tunisia) will be assigned approximately half of the places. For reasons of sustainability especially participatns from Egypt will receive a higher representation. From other European countries no certain rule is set, however we'll try to usually match two participants from one city of one country to allow the development of sustainable between-city connections.

Which partners do you have in these countries?

In Egypt we are collaborating the the NGO ACTS. Furthermore, we are on contact with these organisations: Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfı (Turkey), Youth BCN (Spain), Öko-Soziales Forum Wien (Austria). If you are selected it is possible to get in contact with these organizations to be nominated for an exchange. However, also your own organization can nominate you directly.

Can visa fees be reimbursed?

Unfortunately, our budget for this Professional Development Activity is rather tight since we are working in two countries and do not want to have a participation fee. However, it should be possible to reimburse the maximum amount of the travel allowance for actually occurred costs including a Visa fee. You can find the distance band calculator here: https://commission.europa.eu/funding-tenders/procedures-guidelines-tenders/information-contractors-and-beneficiaries/calculate-unit-costs-eligible-travel-costs_en

These are the maximum amounts we can refund:

For a distance between 10 and 99 km, the maximum reimbursement is 28 Euro for standard travel and 56 Euro for green travel (train, bus, carpool, bicycle).

For a distance between 100 and 499 km, the maximum reimbursement is 211 Euro for standard travel and 285 Euro for green travel.

For a distance between 500 and 1.999 km, the maximum reimbursement is 309 Euro for standard travel and 417 Euro for green travel.

For a distance between 2.000 and 2.999 km, the maximum reimbursement is 395 Euro for standard travel and 535 Euro for green travel.

For a distance between 3.000 and 3.999 km, the maximum reimbursement is 580 Euro for standard travel and 785 Euro for green travel.

For a distance between 4.000 and 7.999 km, the maximum reimbursement is 1.188 Euro — for both standard and green travel, the amount is the same.

I can only attend one of the two activities of the program (either Cairo or Stuttgart), can I still apply?

In general both activities are a Professional Development Activity (PDA) funded by Erasmus+ on their own, hence application is possible for only one of the venues. However, since the program is developed as an exchange in the selection process participants that can commit to both activities have priority over attending "only" one. Of course it is very understandable if one cannot be part of two activities in the same year. Therefore, another PDA is offered with only one activity in Germany. Due to funding regulation this PDA is unfortunately only open to EU and associated third countries.

Which accomodation is booked for participants of the PDA in Cairo and Stuttgart?

In Stuttgart we have two-person rooms in the IB guest house (you can check online), for Cairo we will as well aim to provide you with two-person or single rooms.
