Why This Exchange Is Unique
This program connects two very special places: Montpellier, with its strong culture of civic engagement and many exciting place-based projects, and the Collegium Academicum in Heidelberg, a pioneering self-organized student and youth housing project. Both places stand for openness, experimentation, and new sustainable ways of shaping community life. By joining the exchange, young people will not only travel but step into living laboratories of resilience - exploring how cities can become more sustainable, more democratic, and more inclusive.
What to expect
- Youth Exchange 1 – Montpellier (03–10 June 2026)
30 participants, 5 facilitators, 6 program days + 2 travel days.
Theme: Youth for Urban Resilience - focus on sustainable urban living, climate adaptation, democratic participation. - Youth Exchange 2 – Heidelberg (04–09 August 2026)

Beyond the Youth Exchange
The Montpellier–Heidelberg exchanges are part of the broader Spaces of Resilience project by proBiene. Alongside the youth activities, the program offers Professional Development Activities (PDAs) for educators, youth workers, and urban practitioners in Stuttgart and Cairo. DE Spaces of Resilience – Jugendbegegnung Montpellier & Heidelberg
FR Spaces of Resilience – Échanges de jeunes à Montpellier & Heidelberg
